Siete Días en las Siete Calles - Pablo Gallo | Brixton Denda Somera, 24

En marzo de 2018, el pintor Pablo Gallo recorrió durante siete días las Siete Calles que dieron origen a la ciudad de Bilbao. Visitó un día cada calle y, a la manera de George Perec, anotó todo lo que veía mientras paseaba. Después se encerró en su estudio y convirtió esos paseos en un insólito recorrido por la historia de la ciudad, desde sus orígenes hasta nuestros días, deteniéndose a menudo en aspectos y anécdotas poco conocidas que han marcado y caracterizan a las gentes de Bilbao, lo que Miguel de Unamuno llamaría la intrahistoria. Textos breves y dibujos furtivos para entender el lugar en el que uno vive, para desvelar otras capas de información que permanecen ocultas y dialogar así con la memoria de la ciudad.

Ya está disponible en tu plataforma favorita de streaming o de descarga digital el nuevo single single de DROP COLLECTIVE, "Lágrimas Negras". Una particular revisión del archiconocido bolero , en el que funden con su habitual maestría ska-jazz sonidos de las dos islas antillanas en una versión que con seguridad se convertirá en clásica. Proximamente sera publicado en formato de siete pulgadas.

Daniel Ferruz, teclista de Drop Collective, cuenta la historia de este tema en su cuenta de Instagram: "En octubre de 2018 nos llamaron para tocar en el 50 aniversario del BCN Jazz Fest... Como se quería homenajear a Bebo Valdés, nos pidieron si podíamos hacer una versión de "Lágrimas Negras" inspirada en la del músico cubano. Finalmente, asumí yo la creación del arreglo y me puse a ello. Recuerdo que fue difícil. Sobre todo porque es una versión muy característica y me daba respeto cambiar cosas. Al final, me animé a darle un enfoque roots reggae, pero con espacios más rockeros. Mantuvimos intacto el solo de Paquito de Rivera y la letra. La rearmonización, al final, con toda la demás tralla. La verdad es que siempre es un placer escribir música para Drop y, en este caso, aunque supuso un reto importante, quedé satisfecho con el resultado. Con el tiempo, van surgiendo dudas y el perfeccionismo y la autocrítica llevan a uno a espacios peligrosos. Al final, gracias a la determinación de Andreu Domenech, lo hemos grabado y me alegro mucho, pues me hace sentir orgulloso del trabajo de toda la banda"

The new single by DROP COLLECTIVE is now available in the streaming and digital download platform of your chioce, "Lágrimas Negras". A personal revision of the well-known bolero in which  the band fuses with everyday ska-jazz mastery, sounds from the two Antillean islands in a version that will surely become a classic. Soon it will be released in seven inch format

Daniel Ferruz, keyboardist for Drop Collective, tells the story of the track on his Instagram account: "In October 2018 they called us to play at the 50th anniversary of the BCN Jazz Fest... Since they wanted to pay homage to Bebo Valdés, they asked us if we could make a version of "Lágrimas Negras" based on the one done by the Cuban musician. Finally, I took on the creation of the arrangement and got down to it. I remember that it was difficult. Especially because it is a very characteristic version and I was scared about changing things. In the end, I decided to give it a roots reggae approach, but with more rocker bits. We kept Paquito de Rivera's solo and the lyrics intact. The reharmonization, in the end, with all the other stuff. The truth is that it is always a pleasure writing music for Drop and in this case, although it was a major challenge, I was satisfied with the result. Over time, doubts arise and perfectionism and self-criticism lead to dangerous paces. In the end, thanks to the determination of Andreu Domenech, we have recorded it and I am very happy, because it makes me feel proud of the work of the whole band"

El próximo 24 de junio se publica un nuevo single del colectivo de ska-jazz de Barcelona, DROP COLLECTIVE.

El tema elegido forma parte desde hace años del repertorio habitual en directo de la banda, así que no se han podido resistir a plasmar en disco su particular revisión del archiconocido bolero "Lágrimas Negras".  Como pronto podrás comprobar, funden con su habitual maestría ska-jazz sonidos de las dos islas antillanas en una versión que con seguridad se convertirá en clásica.

"Lagrimas Negras" estará disponible en plataformas de streaming y descarga digital el día de San Juan, y próximamente también en formato single.

A new single from the Barcelona ska-jazz band DROP COLLECTIVE will be released on June 24th.

The selected track has been part of the band's live set for years, so they couldn't help recording their personal revision of the well-known bolero "Lágrimas Negras" (Black Tears). As you will soon be able to check, the band fuses with everyday ska-jazz mastery, sounds from two Antillean islands in a version that will surely become a classic.
