The Cherry Boppers está de vuelta con seis ardientes artefactos de funk promiscuo grabados en colaboración con la vocalista, también bilbaína, Patricia Reckless en este mini-álbum en formato vinilo de 10 pulgadas. Puro ritmo de los pies a la cabeza.

En activo desde 2004 y convencidos defensores del jazz-funk y funk instrumental, son escasos los ejemplos de temas vocales en su discografía. Sin embargo, en el año 2014 editaron el EP “TCB meet Dr. Baltz” (Brixton Records-Soul Series) en el que versionaban, con acierto y letras en castellano, tres standars del rhythm and blues clásico. Ahora, tras cinco años de sequía editorial, repiten la experiencia con la colaboración estelar de la vocalista, también bilbaína, Patricia Reckless, formada musicalmente en la banda “Bohemian Soul”. 

 La potente y educada voz de Patricia Reckless se ensambla perfectamente, como un instrumento más, en la compacta maquinaria rítmica de TCB, dando a los 6 temas de este mini-álbum (lo de EP de 6 temas no acaba de encajar) una estructura, quizás, más familiar para un público no especializado. Pero no nos despistemos, las texturas, los silencios, el golpe“on the one!”, los breaks, el señorial órgano Hammond, los brillantes metales, las contundentes líneas de bajo, las percusiones precisas, el wah wah… son 100% Cherry Boppers.

The Cherry Boppers are back with six fiery artifacts of promiscuous funk recorded in collaboration with vocalist, also from Bilbao, Patricia Reckless on this mini-album on 10-inch vinyl format. Pure rhythm from head to toes. 

 Active since 2004 and convinced defenders of jazz-funk and instrumental funk, there are very few examples of vocal songs in their discography. However, in 2014 they released the EP “TCB meet Dr. Baltz” (Brixton Records-Soul Series) in which they covered, successfully and with lyrics in Spanish, three standards of classic rhythm and blues. Now, after five years of publishing drought, they repeat the experience with the stellar collaboration of the vocalist, also from Bilbao, Patricia Reckless, musically trained in the band “Bohemian Soul”. 

The powerful and educated voice of Patricia Reckless is perfectly assembled, like another instrument, in the compact rhythmic machinery of TCB, giving the 6 songs of this mini-album (the 6-track EP thing, does not quite fit) a structure, perhaps, more familiar to a non-specialized audience.
