"Visto el nombre del grupo, esperabamos otro disco más de Britpop quejumbroso ¡No! Aquí está la nueva pequeña maravilla del autentico ska británico, dignos herederos de Potato 5 y de Maroon Town. Al margen de raíces caribeñas, desarrollan un pronunciado gusto por imparables melodías pop y soul. Insuflan originalidad a los bien conocidos cánones jamaicanos, un poco como lo hace el reggae inédito de Gentleman’s Dub Club. Estas formaciones, ambas de Leeds, comparten el gusto por la sorpresa: no se sabe nunca por dónde nos van a llevar sus conmoveedoras melodías, entre la luz y las sombras, siempre a merced de un devastador break de batería o un inesperado solo jazzy de viento. Tocando de forma más clásica, también saben rendir un gran homenaje a los grandes Fats Domino y su compañero Dave Bartholomew en "Ain't That a Shame": esto no es más que justicia, ya que Nueva Orleans ha aportado muchos de sus fundamentos a esta música isleña que tanto adoramos. Es muy gratificante ver a estos jóvenes que están al día de las tradiciones y trazan su propio nuevo camino. Si persisten, The Indecision tiene los ingredientes que consagran a los grandes grupos unificadores, nada menos. ERD"
"Given the name of the group, we expected yet another whiny Britpop record. No! Here is the new little wonder of British authentic ska, worthy heirs of Potato 5 and Maroon Town. On the fringes of Caribbean roots they develop a pronounced taste for unstoppable pop and soul melodies. They infuse the well known Jamaican canons with originality, a little like the unprecedented reggae from Gentleman’s Dub Club does. Both of these bands are from Leeds and share a common taste for surprises: no one never knows where will their poignant melodies take us, between light and shade, at the mercy of a devastating drum break or an unexpected brass jazzy solo. In a more classic mode, they also know how to pay a great tribute to the great Fats Domino and his partner Dave Bartholomew on "Ain't That a Shame": this is nothing but justice, since New Orleans has given many of its foundations to the music we adore from that island. It is very gratifying to see these young people who are up to date with traditions and chart their own new path. La web especializada Reggae Steady Ska ha puesto en marcha una votación para elegir el mejor álbum de ska de 2019.
Se han seleccionado 74 álbumes editados en 2019 relacionados con la linea musical de la web RSS (no recopilatorios, con un mínimo de 6 temas y con al menos 20 minutos de música). La lista completa de candidaturas puedes verla aquí.

The Indecision & NESJO Lo mejor de 2019 @ Journal Ska (México)
Journal Ska es un programa de radio Circo Volador Radio en Ciudad de México, en sus propias palabras: "Journal Ska es un periódico radiofónico que documenta el Reggae, el Rocksteady y el Ska de diferentes latitudes geográficas, investiga la manera en que las culturas del mundo interpretan y reconstruyen dichos ritmos, además promueve y recomendar una cuidada dieta selección de sonidos jamaicanos"
#D8a de Journal Ska acaba de publicar su selección de lo mejor de 2019 y nos alegra mucho encontrar dos álbumes editados por Brixton Records entre el Top10: The Indecision - Give It Up! y North East Ska Jazz Orchestra - NESJO.
Por si fuera poco, Give It Up! se alza con el honor de ser el mejor disco de ska, reggae y rocksteady en opinión de JournalSka:
1. The Indecision – Give it Up! El 10 de abril de 2019 vimos el estreno del segundo LP de The Indecision “Give It Up!”, se trata de 12 canciones llenas de una mezcla muy fresca de Ska y Rocksteady sin perder el toque británico. Este trabajo, en contraste con su primer álbum (“New Faces” de 2013), a mi parecer, muestra una contundente madurez de esta joven banda. La voz de George Birkett alude a esa energía fresca y juvenil, con tracks enérgicos como “Give It Up!, “The Mould & Mildew” o “Rolling Blackouts”, o “Swan Song”, una melodía tranquila sumamente disfrutable. Mi track favorito del álbum es “Ain't That a Shame”, este cover logrado con excelencia de la canción de Fats Domino lanzada en 1955. Así que “Give It Up!” es un álbum con melodías muy bien elaboradas que seguramente pondrán una sonrisa en el rostro a más de una persona.

THE INDECISION meets THE AGGROLITES
Ben Powling y Rikk Richardson de la banda de Leeds THE INDECISION se acercaron el pasado sábado a Manchester para disfrutar del último concierto de la gira europea de THE AGGROLITES.
El momento quedó inmortalizado en esta foto con Jesse Wagner,y con el doble LP en directo de la banda angelína, Unleashed Live Vol. 1, editado por Brixton Records.

Ya está disponible el primer álbum de la banda de Leeds THE INDECISION, con el título de GIVE IT UP!
The Indecisión es un octeto británico criado escuchando el ska soulful de Studio One que aúna autenticidad y una pasmosa capacidad de escribir canciones de manera respetuosa con el sonido jamaicano de los años 60. The Indecisión se formó en 2011, haciendo su debut discográfico con un EP editado por Do The Dog Records, en septiembre de 2013. Ya entonces mostraban una refrescante forma de aproximarse al ska y rocksteady, definiendo su característico sonido soulful y sin miedo a enfrentarse a ska acelerado, swing bluebeat o grooves rocksteady. La recepción es buena, así que comienzan a hacerse un nombre y compaten escenario con The Skatalites, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Don Letts, Neville Staple, Dandy Livingston y The Slackers y a actuar en los festivales especializados de Gran Bretaña. (Boomtown, Tramlines, One Love, Threshold, Smugglers...). En 2016 editan un siete pulgadas, Swing Those Hips / Atlantic Crossing, con el sello italiano Brainlab Groove
Give It Up! se edita en formato LP+CD y en formato digital, y muestra la madurez de una joven banda que hace suya la tradición británica del ska y rocksteady con toda la naturalidad del mundo, aportando una personalidad arrolladora en temas enérgicos y contagiosos. Segun The London International Ska Festival: "Una de las mejores nuevas bandas de UK". Doce temas en la más británica de las tradiciones del ska y rocksteady.

Authenticity coupled with deft songwriting skill, and forward thinking respect for the sounds of 1960s Jamaica. Formed in 2011 their discographic EP debut was released in September 2013 with Do The Dog Records, showcasing a rich and refreshing blend of ska and rocksteady, recorded and produced entirely by band themselves and receiving airplay from BBC1Xtra and BBC6Music. The band already shows their soulful sound, not fearing uptempo ska, bluebeat swing or solid rocksteady groove. Public and critical reception was positive giving THE INDECISION the opportunity to share the stage with legends of the genre such as The Skatalites, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Don LettsNeville Staple, Dandy Livingston and The Slackers and performing UK festivals including Boomtown, Tramlines, One Love, Threshold and Smugglers, In 2016 the band released the single Swing Those Hips / Atlantic Crossing in Italian label Brainlab Grove.

El adelanto del primer álbum de la banda de Leeds THE INDECISION, llega con la forma del single digital "LEAVE A LIGHT ON", disponible en plataformas de streaming y tiendas digitales desde le día 1 de marzo. El nuevo álbum en formato LP+CD de esta joven banda británica se llamará GIVE IT UP! y verá la luz el próximo mes de abril.
The first preview of the first album by THE INDECISION comes in the form of a single called "LEAVE A LIGHT ON", available in digital outlets from March 1st 2019. This studio effort from the Leeds rocksteady-skankers is titled GIVE IT UP! and will be released next April 2019 in LP+CD edition and digital format. Twelve brand new tracks from the Leeds band.
