Cerca ya de 15 años son los que llevan los valencianos KI-SAP recorriendo escenarios por España, Alemania, Francia, Holanda y Portugal. Cinco trabajos editados (cuatro en estudio y uno registrado en directo). 16.000 copias vendidas en total, todo un logro teniendo en cuenta los tiempos que corren y sin olvidar que son discos autoeditados y gestionados de manera alternativa por distribuidoras anti-comerciales y centros sociales ocupados. Es en 2007 cuando se lanzan a la realización de un disco 100% instrumental. Donde profundizan en todo lo que le ha ocurrido a este estilo desde su nacimiento en el Caribe a principios de los años 50, Ska-Swing, Ska-2Tone, Ska-Jazz, Rocksteady, Dub,… Son las piezas que conforman los 12 temas que podemos disfrutar en este trabajo donde encontramos reminiscencias de artistas como the Skatalites, Rico Rodríguez, Don Drummond, Augustus Pablo, NewYork Ska-Jazz Enssemble,… Para la grabación de este disco han contado con colaboraciones de lujo, Txoni (trompeta) y Miquel (trombón) de “Skaparapid”, Rober (saxo) de la “Benifajazz Big Band”, o Toni Belenguer, trombonista valenciano bien conocido en el circuito de Jazz. Todos ellos han aportado un poco de su arte para hacer de este disco algo muy especial. Este CD es su particular visión de lo ocurrido al Ska desde que surgió, hasta convertirse en lo que es hoy en día, un ritmo y manera de entender la música que se practica en todo el mundo. Producido por J.L.Shipley (excepto los temas mas Reggae-Dub que están co-producidos por Dr. Jau). Música para pensar con los pies y bailar con la cabeza.

The band from Valencia KI-SAP has been regularly on the stages of Spain, Germany, France, Holland and Portugal for almost 15 years. Five albums released (4 recorded in the studio and one on stage). 16.000 copies sold, a real record if we consider the present times and bear in mind that are self-published discs and managed alternatively by non-commercial distributors and social squat centres. Around 100,000 free downloads from the band’s web site. Through this period their musical evolution has covered the path that goes from Ska-Punk to the Reggae-Roots/Ska-Rocksteady, their present approach. On stage or at the studio the band’s mode has always been intensified by themes of instrumental ska in the classic fashion. An this is what produced the birth of a parallel project, THE SHAKE IT UP’S that enables them to penetrate in that “vintage” side.

In 2007 they decided to deliver a 100% instrumental album in which they go more deeply into what has happened to the style since its birth in the Caribbean at the beginning of the decade of the 50’s: Ska-Swing, Ska-2Tone, Ska-Jazz, Rocksteady, Dub… These are the elements that shape the 12 cuts included in this work where influences of the likes of the Skatalites, Rico Rodriguez, Don Drummond, Augustus Pablo, New York Ska-Jazz Ensemble, can be found. Also counting with guest collaborations from “Skaparapid”,“Benifajazz Big Band” or jazz trombonist Toni Belenguer.

As said, this CD is their personal view of what has happened to Ska since its birth until the present moment when Ska is a beat but also a way of understanding music that is practiced all around the world. Begoña Bang-Matu nació en Madrid en una familia con raices en Guinea Ecuatorial. Desde la más tierna infancia estuvo en contacto con la música y aunque en su familia no había músicos profesionales siempre le animaron a cantar y a estudiar musica. Oficialmente su carrera comienza con la banda de R&B “La Noche de la Iguana” una experiencia breve pero muy provechosa ya que le pone en contacto con la escena. En Septiembre de 1993 y tras pasar, hecha un manojo de nervios, una audición se convierte en la cantante del grupo madrileño de ska “MALARIANS” siendo así la primera mujer española en cantar ska clásico. Con Malarians grabó dos albunes “Mind the Step” y Hotel Caribe” antes de que la banda se separara en el año 2000. El grupo RAMICCIA a quien había conocido durante una gira de Malarians por Italia, tambien había quedado prendado del buen hacer de Begoña y fruto de esta buena sintonía es el album “Ramiccia meets Begoña” grabado en 1999. Durante esta época también colabora en algún disco con POTATO y tras las separación de MALARIANS acepta la oferta de los gasteiztarras y se traslada a Vitoria-Gasteiz. Con Potato graba 3 discos como vocalista y compositora. Tambien formó parte de la banda de directo del mítico LAUREL AITKEN y toma parte en la brabación de su album “Laurel en español”. En 2002 toma parte en la grabación de “Inkomunikazioa” de FERMIN MUGURUZA y durante todo el año 2003 forma parte de su banda de directo KONTRABANDA. Otros grupos que han contado con su colaboración son: Amparanoia, Arpioni, Skalariak, Skaparapid y PROYECTO SECRETO. Toda esta actividad se compagina con su actividad como cantante de jazz, grabando y actuando con el proyecto “Jazz entre Divas”. En el año 2001 graba “Magia Negra” su primer disco en como lider con BEGOÑA BANG-MATU & LA ORQUESTA KINGSTON, acopañada de músicos de jazz y antiguos componentes de Malarians.

Tras un paréntesis vital para recobrar energías en el año 2005 vuelve al estudio y graba su segundo disco "I’M THINKING ABOUT YOU” editado por Brixton Records en 2006. En este álbum Begoña Bang-Matu se confirma como una excelente vocalista de jazz haciendo smooth ska-jazz y reggae con grandes influencias del soul y gospel. Pero además es compositora, productora del disco y lider de una banda con una de las ofertas musicales más interesantes en la escena moderna de ska-reggae-oldies. Compruébalo y compara.

Begoña Bang-Matu was born in Madrid; she's been in touch with music since her early childhood. Despite there were no full time musicians in her family, they all were talented for dancing and singing, particularly her mother, who encouraged her to study music. She started up her career in music with R&B band "LA NOCHE DE LA IGUANA". She enjoyed the band as much as rehearsing till late at night when she wasn't old enough for going out in the night! In September 93 she was told that Madrid-based ska band "MALARIANS" was looking for a singer. She got the job and Begoña turns to be the first Spanish woman to sing classic ska. She combined Jamaican music with jazz, recording and performing with jazz project "JAZZ ENTRE DIVAS". She's been honored to play hundreds of gigs and meet many Jamaican artists, legends of Reggae and Ska. With Malarians she recorded albums "Mind the Step" and "Hostal Caribe" before the band split up in September 2000. Begoña has sung as well together with Italian band "RAMICCIA", with whom she recorded the album "Ramiccia meets Begoña". She's been touring with Laurel Aitken and recording backing vocals for his album "Laurel en Español". She's been part of Spain's older Reggae band "POTATO", recording three albums with them, as backing vocalist and composer. In 2002 she records "INKOMUNIKAZIOA" with Fermin Muguruza and she tours the entire world in 2003 with the latter's band "KONTRABANDA". She's been recording with Amparanoia, Arpioni, Skalariak, Skaparapid, and performing with Belgian/Chilean ska band PROYECTO SECRETO. In 2001 she recorded her first solo album "MAGIA NEGRA", backed by jazz musicians and former components of Malarians. Since then, they've been touring all over Europe.

In 2005 she records her 2nd album released in 2006 by Brixton Records as leader: "I'M THINKING ABOUT YOU". In this album Begoña Bang-Matu proves again that shee is an excellent jazz singer doing smoth ska-jazz and reggae with stong influences of soul and gospel. But she is also composer, producer and leader of one of the most interesting offers in the modern ska-reggae-oldies scene. Just check and compare.

PROYECTO SECRETO – Bruce Lee is Back [2003]

Desde sus primeras canciones en Brixton Records, PROYECTO SECRETO, nuestra banda belga-chilena, ha crecido como una magnífica banda de Ska Jazz, Latin Ska y Rocksteady. Prueba de ello es “Bruce Lee is Back”, un autentico regalo para los pies y la mente.

La historia de PS coimienza en 1995 cuando Roberto y Michael formaron la banda “The Subzero Skaband”. Desafortunadamente la banda se separó en 1997, sin embargo la energía generada no se esfumó. Así en 1998 Eduardo decide viajar a Bélgica para visitar a su buen amigo Roberto (ambos son de Valparaíso, Chile). Y allí se quedo, ya que en diciembre de 1998 nace la “bomba skatalitica” PROYECTO SECRETO. En un par de años P.S. se transformó en una de las bandas belgas más calientes. Empezaron dando conciertos en pequeños cafés, casas ocupas y clubs de los alrededores de la ciudad de Gante y un año mas tarde realizan una gira por todo Bélgica. En septiembre del año 2000 inician su primer tour internacional que les lleva a ciudades como Bilbao, Madrid, Sevilla, Valencia, Tarragona... En el año 2001 vuelven a visitar Euskadi como teloneros para el maestro Rico Rodriguez y actuando en festivales junto a Trojans, Skunk , Akatz... En este mismo año aparecen en la recopilación “Brixton Cats and the Rudies” (Brixton Records). A finales de 2001 y comienzos de 2002 la banda se toma un descanso de la carretera pero en la trastienda la cosa sigue en marcha ya que están preparando su primer disco de larga duración. Por fin en abril del año 2003 PROYECTO SECRETO publica su primer album en el sello Brixton Records. Este fue un año muy especial para PS ya que con todo derecho actúan sobre el escenario principal en las fiestas de su ciudad, Gante y llegan a compartir escenario con los increíbles “Tokio Ska Paradise Orchestra”. Tambien viajan de nuevo a Euskadi y actuan en festivales junto a Bad Manners y Alton Ellis además de grabar otros dos temas para la recopilación “Brixton Cats and the Reggaeboys” (Brixton Records). 2003 finalizó con el gran festival “ Ska Antwerpen” en el cual tambien participaron Alton Ellis , Rude Rich and the Highnotes, the Toasters, Moon Invaders... y en esa misma semana compartieron escenario con los maestros de la musica jamaicana the Skatalites. En 2004 PS continúa teniendo una excelente acogida por parte del público y la crítica actuando en importantes festivales belgas como Pole Pole Beach, Fonnefeesten, Viva Lola Festival...Siguiendo la tradición, el año acaba con un gran concierto junto a David Hillyard & the Rocksteady 7 que aún es recordado por todos los fanaticos del ska de Gante y sus alrededores.

Desde 2005 PROYECTO SECRETO continua girando por varios paises europeos, siempre añadiendo novedades como la inclusión de la sensual cantante invitada Paola Marquez (Colombia). En la actualidad se encuentran preparando la edición de un nuevo album.

Since the first songs released with Brixton Records, our Chile-Belgium band PROYECTO SECRETO has grown to be a great Ska Jazz, Latin Ska and Rocksteady band. “Bruce Lee is Back” is a proof of that, a real gift for your feet and mind.

The roots of PROYECTO SECRETO go back to 1995 when Roberto and Michael started a band called 'The Subzero Skaband'. Unfortunately the band split somewhere in 1997 but the energy remained. In 1998 Eduardo comes to Belgium to visit his good old friend Roberto (both are from Valparaiso, Chile) and he came to stay, because in December 1998 'PROYECTO SECRETO was founded.

In two years of hard work in the club circuit P.S. grew to be one of the hottest bands in Belgium. In year 2000 they do their first international tour visiting also Bilbao, Madrid, Seville, Valencia, Tarragona…. And in 2001 they visit The Basque Country again as supporting band for maestro Rico Rodriguez also appearing in festivals along with Trojans, Skunk, Akatz…That same year they publish two songs in the compilation “Brixton Cats and the Rudies” (Brixton Records). At the end of 2001 and beginning of 2002 the band is taking break from the road but behind the scene things are going on and on December 2002 they start recording a full album. On April 2003 the CD ‘Bruce Lee is Back’ is released by Brixton Records. 2003 was a very special year for PROYECTO SECRETO. They play on the main stage in the festival of their hometown Gent and they share stage with the incredible “Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra”. They visit the Basque Country again and participate in festivals along with Bad Manners and Alton Ellis and they record two more songs for the new Brixton Records compilation “Brixton Cats and the Reggae Boys”. The year ends with the great festival “ Ska Antwerpen” sharing stage with Alton Ellis, Rude Rich and the Highnotes, the Toasters, Moon Invaders... That same week they also play a gig with Jamaican music maestros the Skatalites. In 2004 PROYECTO SECRETO continues to have brilliant reception by audience and critics and participating in important Belgian festivals like Pole Pole Beach, Fonnefeesten, Viva Lola Festival... Assuming the tradition they put end to the year with a great gig, this time along with David Hillyard & the Rocksteady 7. This concert is still ringing in the ears of all ska fanatics of Gent and surroundings.

Since 2005 PROYECTO SECRETO regularly tours trough Europe always adding up something new to their shows like the addition of the guest sensual singer Paola Marquez (Colombia). Currently they are preparing the release of new album album.
