El pasado día 26 de marzo NESJO realizó una presentación de su nuevo álbum para fans y amigos locales en el teatro Pasolini de la ciudad friulana de Cervignano, y el día 1 de abril, el disco se puso en circulación en formato CD y descarga digital.

Asi, que cumpliendo lo prometido, ya está disponible el álbum homónimo, North East Ska Jazz Orchestra en formato LP vinilo. Link de compra, aquí

The Italian big band of maestros NESJO presented their new album last March 26th to friends and local fans in theater Pasolini in Cervignano, at their own region of Friuli. On April 1st the homonimuous new work, North Eask Ska Jazz Orchestra, was released on CD and digital formats.

El álbum de 2019, BREAK THRU, es el decimocuarto disco largo de estudio de esta longeva banda neoyorquina de la llamada "tercera ola" y comandada por el saxofonista y vocalista Fred Reiter. Para la ocasión el plantel sigue siendo de campanillas: Mark Damon (bajo y trombón), Kevin Batchelor (trompeta), Joey Gallo (batería), Simone Amodeo (guitarra) y Andrea Ferraro (teclados). Como es tradición, los sonidos de este álbum discurren en ese soleado cruce de caminos entre el jazz estadounidense y el ska jamaicano, un delicioso espacio descubierto por los míticos The Skatalites hace ya 50 años.

Break Thru se desgrana de manera vertiginosa a través de instrumentales originales, tres versiones y un tremendo virtuosismo instrumental.  Las piezas más cercanas al ska incluyen la contagiosa
 "Chicky Chicky Boom Boom, la frenética "Bopicana" y el tema que da nombre al álbum. Otros temas cono ""Freddie's Bounce" y "Subliminal Seductions" permiten a la banda demostrar sus habilidades jazzisticas. Clásicos del repertorio de NYSJE como "Perfidia" y  el tema de The Wailers "Love and Affection" encuentran sitio de manera natural en el disco, como desde siempre lo han hecho en sus conciertos. Un sentido homenaje al recientemente desaparecido Tom Petty, en el cover de "Learning to Fly", redondea un álbum en el que, de nuevo, NYSJE nos muestran su exquisito gusto y saber hacer.


2019's album BREAK THRU is the fourteenth studio album from this long-standing new york band from the so called "third wave" and led by Fred Reiter on sax and vocals. For the task a high flying line-up: Mark Damon (bass and trombone), Kevin Batchelor (trompet), Joey Gallo (drums), Simone Amodeo (guitar) and Andrea Ferraro (keyboards). As it is usual,  sonorities on this new offspring stroll through the sunny crossroad where American Jazz and Jamaican ska meet. 

Break Thru brilliantly unveils instrumental originals, three cover versions and awesome instrumental technical skill. The more ska oriented tracks feature the contagious "Chicky Chicky Boom Boom," the raving "Bopicana" and the title track. Freddie's Bounce" and "Subliminal Seductions" allow the band free rein on jazzistic habilities and classics on NYSJE repertoire as "Perfidia" and The Wailers' "Love and Affection"find a natural place in the grooves of this new record, as have always done on the bands live sets. A sincere tribute to Tom Petty in the form of a cover of "Learning to Fly" rounds off an album that once again shows the exquisite taste and savoir faire of NYSJE.
