El próxino día 9 de noviembre se publicará el álbum de debut de los jazz-skankers JAH JAZZ ORCHESTRA, en formatos de LP y CD, así com en descarga digital y streaming.

Este primer álbum revisita composiciones de leyendas del jazz tales como Duke Ellington, Charles Mingus, Dizzy Gillespie y Joe Henderson, a la vez que lo hace con dos clásicos del repertorio de The Skatalites (Ska La Parisienne and King Solomon). Los originales arreglos los sitúan en sonidos que van del ska clásico al reggae, pasando por el rocksteady, pero siempre con una gran presencia del jazz jamaicano y de artistas como The Skatalites, Ernest Ranglin, Jazz Jamaica…

Jah Jazz Orchestra es una agrupación de jazzmen activos en la escena europea, especialmente de Suiza y Francia, que vuelve a las raíces del Ska – inicialmente, y en radical síntesis, la asunción jamaicana del jazz y rhythm’n’blues estadounidense – para ofrecer su propia mixtura de groove, improvisación y arreglos de big-band.

 The first ever album by jazz-skankers JAH JAZZ ORCHESTRA will be realeased on November 9th, and will be available in LP and CD formats, as well as in digital download and streaming.

This debut album revisits compositions from jazz legends such as Duke Ellington, Charles Mingus, Dizzy Gillespie and Joe Henderson as well as two classics from The Skatalites repertoire (Ska La Parisienne and King Solomon). The original arrangements set these tunes in grooves ranging from classic ska to reggae, strolling through rocksteady, with the ever presence of Jamaican jazz and the influence of artists such as The Skatalites,Ernest Ranglin, Jazz Jamaica… 

Jah Jazz Orchestra is an ensemble of jazzmen active on the Swiss, French and European scene that goes back to the roots of Ska – initially, and in extreme summary, a Jamaican take on American jazz and rhythm’n’blues - to deliver its own blend of groove, improvisation and big-band arrangements.
